Annick Trains for the London Marathon
Furious she is not. But fast she certainly is. If you are wandering who is running for one hour on her way to work, spending lunch time swimming and then jogs back home… the answer is Annick! By her own admission, Annick is "generally a very active and sports orientated person but it is running that has just about my full attention at the moment especially with the London Marathon coming up in a couple of weeks. This will be my first full marathon and the plan is for it to be the first of many with some Ultra Marathons on the agenda for the end of 2009 and 2010".
Annick was offered a place with a small local charity called the Garwood Foundation, which works with disabled children and adults though a number of schools and facilities. "The hype leading up to a race like the London Marathon is enough in itself to keep anyone motivated but then I also have the charity that I am running for to give me an extra push" she explains.
And running is not the only sort Annick uses to fund raise. Western & Oriental have a bike team which Annick is a part of and together they will be competing in the London to Brighton Bike ride for the second time this year. All funds raised for this event will be donated to the British Heart foundation, another cause dear to Annick and us at W&O.
But for now, we wish Annick good luck with her training! (Photo from her recent trip to her homeland – South Africa)
