Slovenia - The Golden Triangle
Endellion King, one of our most enthusiastic Account Managers has experienced Slovenia in the search for ‘new Europe’ with hospitality suitable for the seasoned UK market. The ‘Golden Triangle’ in Slovenia consists of Ljubljana, Bled and Portoroz/Piran, with less than a one hour transfer by bus between Ljubljana and Bled or Piran. Groups can experience city, the Alps and seaside in three days.
What makes Slovenia attractive is the increasingly good access, the diversity of its landscape, its novelty as a MICE destination and the eagerness of the local suppliers to work with the UK buyers. All in all, Slovenia is an interesting destination where incentives have every chance to wow your guests and fit your budget.
Here are some of Endellion’s overall destination impressions…
Slovenia is a very picturesque, compact country with much to offer for a short incentive programme. Offering winter sports and hiking in the mountains to the North and sun, sand and relaxation in the Adriatic coast to the South, yet only an hour transfer between the two by coach, it has something for everyone. Great access to Italy, Austria, Croatia and Hungary all of which it shares borders with, Slovenia is a good option for multi-centred itineraries. Not yet a popular destination, it would suit clients looking for something new.
Located between the Alps and the Adriatic Sea, Ljubljana has a mixture of German and Mediterranean influences, both in culture and architecture. The Old Town watched over by the city’s medieval castle has a blend of baroque and art nouveau buildings located on the banks of the river Ljubljanica offering bars and restaurants along the waterfront. But there is more to Slovenia than just Ljubljana.
Bled, nestled in the Alps near to the Austrian border, is ranked one of the most beautiful alpine resorts with a mild climate, thermal lake and mountains. The resort is as popular for its skiing and hiking as it is for its swimming, offering the longest outdoor swimming season of all Alpine resorts. Bled also has an impressive castle which presides over the lake and is believed to date back to 1004 and a unique Thermal Lake.
Portoroz is located in the costal region of Piran in the northern most point of the Adriatic Sea, between Italy to the North and Croatia to the South. Portoroz has a small international airport and is just 30km from the Italian border with good connections to Venice. Piran is a small medieval town famous for its narrow streets, compact houses and Venetian charm. Boat trips to medieval Piran, Aqua Park, marina & casino, wellness centre and Paradise Spa are some of the activities ready to entertain.
All in all, an interesting destination where mid-range, medium-size incentives have every chance to wow your guests and fit your budget!
